Mr. Grumpy (2014-2019)

Mr. Grumpy was found dead at the age of five in the front yard on the evening of October 10th.

Grumps was rehomed in 2014 when he was about six months old from a lady who was unable to keep him. It took a while for him to lose his edginess around people, but he was quite the charmer once he did! He went from hiding in a closet all day to the cat who would come regardless of which cat you called. Sometimes he would amble up just to make sure you knew he was available to pet.
His Himalayan background made him always want to be at the highest spot he could be in. He would often hide when he slept, which was the one time he didn't come running when he was called. He loved the outdoors, but he wandered off once and was gone for a week. He seemed to suffer PTSD from that incident because he was never the same after that.

His favorite spot to hide was in the rafters in the garage. That was his place to live pretty much the entire summer.

Grumpy didn't like conflict if it was directed at him. He was fine with watching it as a sideshow, but he seemed to lack the fight part of his fight or flight instinct. He was quite awkward on those occasions when he was spotted and had to flee. Perhaps it was taunting from other cats that made him passive aggressive, but that he was. I said he didn't like conflict directed at him, but he seemed to enjoy causing conflict between other cats. He was also the cat who would poop in the closet if I offended him.

Through it all, we were buddies. He would usually let me hold him for hours if I wanted, and he would remind me of that for several minutes every time I put him down.

The cause of his death is unknown. He had died within two hours of being found. He was up near the sidewalk which was unusually close to the road for him. There were no obvious signs of injuries. I will miss my little buddy with the beautiful blue eyes.
